Living Our Dying – Monday 6th May – 2 short films: Die-a-log & The Last Companion

L i v i n g o u r D y i n g – is the title of a book based on 12 years of conversations about death in a small group in Glasgow called “Die-a-log”

“I love this beautiful book. It will not only help you to die a good death, it will strengthen you to live a good life” Richard Holloway

During research for the book – two films were made: Die-a-log based on interviews with the founder members, and The Last Companion – based on a story about going to Switzerland to die.

On 6th May 5pm, these films were be shown on zoom. Following each film, there will be opportunity for questions and discussions in small groups. Dying is part of life. How we live our dying is fundamentally important. What do we do when someone we know has died? How do we make our own dying part of our lives? Living Our Dying offers a fuller engagement with death, so that life can be rich; it offers ways to engage with pain, fear, anxiety, and loss of dreams. Dying is part of life. PlaySpace Publications available as pdfs

Recently in Dundee at the Reforesting Scotland Hutter’s Rally, I had a stall selling a few books and pamphlets including The Unfinished Hut and The Earth is Our Home and Living on the Edge of Uncertainty. Three different visitors with poor eyesight came to my stall asked if they could buy the publication to read on line so they could enlarge the text on screen. Two of my publications are already available as e-readers on Gumroad: Living Our Dying and Bringing Mindfulness to Life. Eventually I intend to post everything on Gumtree; meanwhile you can order copies of any of PSP publications as a pdf for half-price. In addition to the order form – please send me an email requesting a pdf.

Dance of the Elements – taiji poetry & meditation retreat

Linda France and I will be leading a week-long retreat in October: Dance of the Elements. Do join us! To allow for deeper reflections and quiet time for our writing, there will be periods of silence overnight and after each meditation (3 or 4 each day) leading to a whole day of silence.

I say to my breath once again, little breath come from in front of me, go away behind me, row me quietly now, as far as you can, for I am an abyss that I am trying to cross. W. S. Merwin

The Four Immeasurables (Brahma Viharas)
May all beings enjoy happiness and the causes of happiness
May we be free from suffering and the causes of suffering
May we not be separated from the great happiness
May we dwell in the great equanimity free from craving, aversion, and delusion
